Rottweiler

The Rottweiler is a medium to large size breed of domestic dog that originated in Rottweil, Germany. The dogs were known as “Rottweil butchers’ dogs” (German: Rottweiler Metzgerhund) because they were used to herd livestock and pull carts laden with butchered meat and other products to market. Some records indicate that earlier Rottweilers may have also been used for hunting, although the modern Rottweiler has a relatively low hunting instinct.

The Rottweiler was employed in its traditional roles until the mid-19th century when railways replaced droving for getting livestock to market. While still used in herding, Rottweilers are now also used in search and rescue, as guide dogs for the blind, as guard or police dogs, and in other roles.[2]

Belgian Malinois

The Belgian Shepherd Dog (Malinois) is a breed of dog, sometimes classified as a variety of the Belgian Shepherd Dog rather than as a separate breed. The Malinois is recognized in the United States under the name Belgian Malinois. Its name is the French word for Mechlinian, which is in Dutch either Mechelse herdershond (shepherd dog from Mechelen) or Mechelaar (one from Mechelen).

These dogs are popular for K-9 use in police departments, as are German Shepherds.

German Shepherd Dog

The German Shepherd Dog (German: Deutscher Schäferhund), also known as an Alsatian or just the German Shepherd, is a breed of large-sized dog that originated in Germany.

The German Shepherd is a relatively new breed of dog, with its origin dating to 1899. As part of the Herding Group, the German Shepherd is a working dog developed originally for herding and guarding sheep. Because of its strength, intelligence and abilities in obedience training it is often employed in police and military roles around the world.[3] German Shepherds currently account for 4.6% of all dogs registered with the American Kennel Club. Due to its loyal and protective nature, the German Shepherd is one of the most registered of breeds.

Search & Rescue Dogs

Our Search and Rescue Dogs are trained to find alive missing people in forests, rubble, ruins, etc. by following a scent which is carried on the air and to ignore all interfernces in their working area such as scattered food, working rescuers, rescue euipment.
This is a very efficint method of searching large areas quickly and does not require items of clothing or effect of the missing person. Dogs work equally well in the dark and use their senses of smell and hearing to their fullest under these conditions.
It is calculated that dog is equivalent to about 20 searchers in good conditions and many more in poor conditions.
In ideal conditions, a dog can pick up a human scent from about 500 meters.

Track dogs

A dog is “tracking” when he is following the scent trail or disturbed vegetation scent, left by a person (or other animal) that has traveled along a certain root.
Following a trail is one of the many useful things dogs can do to help people tracking lost children, suspect, lost items.
